How to make Shower Steamers for clearing up blocked nose

It's been a while since I had the flu.  This year, I got reminded of how terrible one can feel when they have it.  It was like a relay of flu bug here in our household, "Come on, pass me the flu baton, please", I can just hear myself saying that possible coaxing when Paige had it.

Anyhow, here is a recipe that might be useful for when you have the baton, I mean, flu.

The basic ingredients for shower steamers are basically identical to ingredients for bath bombs:
1 part Sodium Bicarbonate
1/2 part Citric Acid

For the scent part, because you want it to be strong enough to clear your blocked nose, mix 1.5-2% Menthol crystals into the essential oils component that you are using.  Let the crystals melt in the oils, takes a while but it will melt.

An example recipe:
1kg Sodium Bicarbonate
500g Citric Acid
10g Eucalyptus essential oils
10g Lavender essential oils
15g Menthol crystals
water in spray bottle
Mix all into a wet sand consistency.
Place into small silicone moulds and cover with glad wrap, leave overnight.
Remove from moulds and place into jars with lids to preserve scent.
Use with hot showers.

Enjoy your steamers, great pick me up for those sick days.

Happy experimenting!
